Schmidt: ‘Probably Going To Be Counterproductive for Trump To Get Rid of Comey’

‘The attention and the scrutiny will be greater in that the FBI is doing what it likes to say, following the facts’

EXCERPT:

SCHMIDT: "This is probably going to be counterproductive for Trump to get rid of Comey. It’s not like Comey was out there doing interviews and writing reports and working on the investigation. Yes, he was overseeing it, but the day-to-day work was being done at the agent and analyst level at headquarters, it was being tightly managed there because they don’t want the information to get out. Now that Comey is gone, it’s not like that stuff ends. If anything, there’s more scrutiny on the FBI now and more people, as the lawmakers on Capitol Hill said yesterday, looking to make sure there’s no interference with this and that they’re allowed to do their investigation. So, while Trump may have gotten rid of Comey, the attention now and the scrutiny will be even greater in that the FBI is doing what it likes to say, following the facts. So, I think it's going to be counterproductive."
