CNN’s Dana Bash Rebuts Spicer: Warning About Flynn Sounds Like More Than a ‘Heads-Up’ (Mediaite)
During today’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer downplayed the warnings one-time acting Attorney General Sally Yates gave the White House about then National Security Advisor Michael Flynn potentially being compromised by Russia, describing them as merely a “heads-up.”
Following the briefing, CNN correspondent Dana Bash mocked the press secretary over his comments, noting that pointing out a top White House official may be under threat of blackmail by an adversary doesn’t really fit the portrayal of a “heads-up.”
“To me, heads-up is ‘Hey, Mom, put on CNN, I’m going to be on Brooke’s show,’ not ‘Oh my gosh, there’s a matter of national security and your national security advisor could be compromised by the Russians,'” Bash said. “You need to know this. To me, they are very different.”
