When you got in trouble, when you've got some kind of political crisis, go on offense against the media. Now you have a presidency where that has become a central defining feature. Rather than a kind of break glass emergency move, it’s now the core of it. And the reason they do it is because it obviously works on some level in the sense it has deep resonance for the base that Trump is talking to. He is doing amazing job at solidifying and locking down all the people that voted for him in 2016. He cares for them, he talks about them, and they are 100 percent with him. That’s a real political asset but it has limits."
