Christopher Hill: ‘Astounding’ Trump’s ‘Expressing’ ‘Sympathy’ or Empathy’ for Kim Jong Un

‘The most astounding thing he said is somehow expressing sympathy or maybe empathy for Kim Jong Un’

EXCERPT:

HILL: "The most astounding thing in that interview is the idea that somehow expressing some sympathy or maybe even empathy for Kim Jong-un, saying, 'Well, he’s only 27, inherited this from his father, it’s tough, et cetera...' I think what he’s doing, he’s all over the map but with one very clear focus, he wants to see if he can get to the point where they can persuade North Korea to give up these nuclear weapons, a tall order. And he’s certainly full of flattery for the Chinese to try to recruit them and make sure they’re with him. We’ll have to see how this plays out.”
