New Orleans officials removed the first of four prominent Confederate monuments early Monday

GUTIERREZ: “It was the dark of night, workers in helmets and tactical vests tearing down a Confederate memorial in New Orleans. Security so tight, police snipers looked on from surrounding rooftops. The liberty monument was an obelisk dating back to 1891, it's the first of four monuments set to be taken down throughout the city.”
