Biography

Larry Honig has extensive experience streamlining operations and delivering superior returns for businesses in high-growth, turnaround, and start-up environments and has led operations for some of the biggest names in the retail industry. Hallmarks of his business career include service as Chairman, CEO, CIO, and other senior executive positions in which Larry focused on –

Jump-starting international expansion for a major teen apparel retailer, including implementing a three-year plan for the company’s Internet business that included website overhaul and resulted in a doubling of revenue growth.
Rebranding a food and beverage concessions company serving major football and baseball stadiums and national convention centers, improving and modernizing menu quality, and managing its IPO.
Turning around struggling retail operations in several environments, ranging from import operations of an internationally known women’s apparel brand, to U.S. mall-based stores, to small Internet start-ups.
Building lasting processes, procedures and operational standards for major retail corporations, concentrating on strategy, human resources, information technology, import strategy and vendor management.
Larry was a partner at McKinsey & Company, where he specialized in strategy and managed international consulting engagements for consumer goods and advertising clients. He has served on the boards of The St. Paul Companies (prior to its merger with Travelers), May Department Stores Co., Centerplate Inc., Edison Brothers Stores, Inc., and Angelica Corp. Earlier he served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. He received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, earned his M.A. in Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin, and graduated from Washington & Lee University with dual B.A. and B.S. degrees in American History and Commerce. Larry has lived and worked in several east coast and midwest states. He has done business in the U.K., Europe, China, Japan, India, Mexico and Central America, and is fluent in Spanish and French. He has published a book and authored several peer-reviewed articles in professional journals.

Currently Larry is a consultant specializing in global retail operations, serving institutional clients located in Europe, Asia and North America. Larry and his wife, Lisa, have been full-time homeowners on Marco Island since 2007. Lisa, a former international VP for Hitachi Data Systems, is Unit Executive Director of the American Cancer Society on Marco Island. Larry and Lisa have four children, who live in St. Louis, Atlanta, New York and Los Angeles.
