when ░░░░░░░░ clothing company was raided ░░░░░░░░ In other actions a ░░░░░░░░ S citizen nine months ░░░░░░░░ was arrested A four ░░░░░░░░ old girl taken families ░░░░░░░░ friends quite literally disappearing ░░░░░░░░ response Every day angelenos ░░░░░░░░ out to exercise their ░░░░░░░░ right to free speech ░░░░░░░░ assembly to protest their ░░░░░░░░ s actions In turn ░░░░░░░░ state of California and ░░░░░░░░ city and county of ░░░░░░░░ Angeles sent our police ░░░░░░░░ to help keep the ░░░░░░░░ And with some exceptions ░░░░░░░░ were successful Like many ░░░░░░░░ California is no stranger ░░░░░░░░ this sort of unrest ░░░░░░░░ manage it regularly and ░░░░░░░░ our own law enforcement ░░░░░░░░ this again was different ░░░░░░░░ then ensued was the ░░░░░░░░ of tear gas flash ░░░░░░░░ grenades rubber bullets federal ░░░░░░░░ detaining people and undermining ░░░░░░░░ due process rights Donald ░░░░░░░░ without consulting California law ░░░░░░░░ leaders commandeered 2000 of ░░░░░░░░ state s national guard ░░░░░░░░ to deploy on our ░░░░░░░░ illegally and for no ░░░░░░░░ This brazen abuse of ░░░░░░░░ by a sitting president ░░░░░░░░ a combustible situation putting ░░░░░░░░ people our officers and ░░░░░░░░ our national guard at ░░░░░░░░ That s when the ░░░░░░░░ spiral began He doubled ░░░░░░░░ on his dangerous national ░░░░░░░░ deployment by fanning the ░░░░░░░░ even harder And the ░░░░░░░░ he did it on ░░░░░░░░ As the news spread ░░░░░░░░ L A anxiety for ░░░░░░░░ and friends ramped up ░░░░░░░░ started again By night ░░░░░░░░ dozen lawbreakers became violent ░░░░░░░░ destructive They vandalized property ░░░░░░░░ tried to assault police ░░░░░░░░ Many of you have ░░░░░░░░ the video clips of ░░░░░░░░ burning on cable news ░░░░░░░░ you incite violence I ░░░░░░░░ to be clear about ░░░░░░░░ If you incite violence ░░░░░░░░ destroy our communities you ░░░░░░░░ going to be held ░░░░░░░░ account That kind of ░░░░░░░░ behavior will not be ░░░░░░░░ Full stop Already more ░░░░░░░░ 220 people have been ░░░░░░░░ And we re reviewing ░░░░░░░░ to build additional cases ░░░░░░░░ people will be prosecuted ░░░░░░░░ the fullest extent of ░░░░░░░░ law Again thanks to ░░░░░░░░ law enforcement officers and ░░░░░░░░ majority of angelenos who ░░░░░░░░ peacefully the situation was ░░░░░░░░ down and was concentrated ░░░░░░░░ just a few square ░░░░░░░░ downtown With that that ░░░░░░░░ not what Donald Trump ░░░░░░░░ He again chose escalation ░░░░░░░░ chose more force He ░░░░░░░░ theatrics over public safety ░░░░░░░░ federalized another 2000 guard ░░░░░░░░ He deployed more than ░░░░░░░░ active U S Marines ░░░░░░░░ are the men and ░░░░░░░░ trained for foreign combat ░░░░░░░░ domestic law enforcement We ░░░░░░░░ their service We honor ░░░░░░░░ bravery But we do ░░░░░░░░ want our streets militarized ░░░░░░░░ our own armed forces ░░░░░░░░ in L A not ░░░░░░░░ California not anywhere We ░░░░░░░░ seeing unmarked cars unmarked ░░░░░░░░ in school parking lots ░░░░░░░░ afraid of attending their ░░░░░░░░ graduation Trump is pulling ░░░░░░░░ military dragnet all across ░░░░░░░░ Angeles well beyond his ░░░░░░░░ intent to just go ░░░░░░░░ violent and serious criminals ░░░░░░░░ agents are arresting dishwashers ░░░░░░░░ day laborers and seamstresses ░░░░░░░░ s just weakness Weakness ░░░░░░░░ as strength Donald Trump ░░░░░░░░ government isn t protecting ░░░░░░░░ communities They re traumatizing ░░░░░░░░ communities And that seems ░░░░░░░░ be the entire point ░░░░░░░░ will keep fighting It ░░░░░░░░ keep fighting on behalf ░░░░░░░░ our people all of ░░░░░░░░ people including in the ░░░░░░░░ Just yesterday we filed ░░░░░░░░ legal challenge to Donald ░░░░░░░░ s reckless deployment of ░░░░░░░░ troops to a major ░░░░░░░░ city Today we sought ░░░░░░░░ emergency court order to ░░░░░░░░ the use of the ░░░░░░░░ military to engage in ░░░░░░░░ enforcement activities across Los ░░░░░░░░ If some of us ░░░░░░░░ be snatched off the ░░░░░░░░ without a warrant based ░░░░░░░░ on suspicion or skin ░░░░░░░░ then None of us ░░░░░░░░ safe Authoritarian regimes begin ░░░░░░░░ targeting people who are ░░░░░░░░ able to defend themselves ░░░░░░░░ they do not stop ░░░░░░░░ Trump and his loyalists ░░░░░░░░ thrive on division because ░░░░░░░░ allows them to take ░░░░░░░░ power and exert even ░░░░░░░░ control And by the ░░░░░░░░ Trump he s not ░░░░░░░░ to lawlessness and violence ░░░░░░░░ long as it serves ░░░░░░░░ What more evidence do ░░░░░░░░ need than January 6th ░░░░░░░░ ask everyone take time ░░░░░░░░ on this perilous moment ░░░░░░░░ president who wants to ░░░░░░░░ bound by no law ░░░░░░░░ constitution perpetuating a unified ░░░░░░░░ on American traditions This ░░░░░░░░ a president who in ░░░░░░░░ over 140 days has ░░░░░░░░ government watchdogs that could ░░░░░░░░ him accountable Accountable for ░░░░░░░░ and fraud He s ░░░░░░░░ a war A war ░░░░░░░░ culture on history on ░░░░░░░░ on knowledge itself Databases ░░░░░░░░ literally are vanishing He ░░░░░░░░ delegitimizing news organizations and ░░░░░░░░ s assaulting the First ░░░░░░░░ And the threat of ░░░░░░░░ them at threat He ░░░░░░░░ dictating what universities themselves ░░░░░░░░ teach He s targeting ░░░░░░░░ firms and the judicial ░░░░░░░░ that are the foundations ░░░░░░░░ an orderly and civil ░░░░░░░░ He s calling for ░░░░░░░░ sitting governor to be ░░░░░░░░ for no other reason ░░░░░░░░ to in his own ░░░░░░░░ for getting elected And ░░░░░░░░ all know this Saturday ░░░░░░░░ s ordering our American ░░░░░░░░ the United States military ░░░░░░░░ forcing them to put ░░░░░░░░ a vulgar display to ░░░░░░░░ his birthday just as ░░░░░░░░ failed dictators have done ░░░░░░░░ the past Look this ░░░░░░░░ t just about protests ░░░░░░░░ in Los Angeles when ░░░░░░░░ Trump sought blanket authority ░░░░░░░░ commandeer the national guard ░░░░░░░░ made that order apply ░░░░░░░░ every state in this ░░░░░░░░ This is about all ░░░░░░░░ us This is about ░░░░░░░░ California may be first ░░░░░░░░ it clearly will not ░░░░░░░░ here Other states are ░░░░░░░░ Democracy is next Democracy ░░░░░░░░ under assault before our ░░░░░░░░ This moment we have ░░░░░░░░ has arrived He s ░░░░░░░░ a wrecking ball A ░░░░░░░░ ball to our founding ░░░░░░░░ historic project Three co ░░░░░░░░ branches of independent government ░░░░░░░░ no longer any checks ░░░░░░░░ balances Congress is account a higher ░░░░░░░░ of accountability If you ░░░░░░░░ your First Amendment rights ░░░░░░░░ please do it peacefully ░░░░░░░░ know many of you ░░░░░░░░ are feeling deep anxiety ░░░░░░░░ and fear But I ░░░░░░░░ you to know that ░░░░░░░░ are the antidote to ░░░░░░░░ fear and that anxiety ░░░░░░░░ Donald Trump wants most ░░░░░░░░ your fealty your silence ░░░░░░░░ be complicit in this ░░░░░░░░ Do not give in ░░░░░░░░ him.
