Brownstein: The Breach Within Dem Party Caused by Gaza War Is Only Going to Increase the Longer This Goes On

‘There‘s a lot of unease in the democratic coalition under the hood’

EXCERPT:

BROWNSTEIN: “So, you know, Biden has been certainly more critical of Netanyahu and the way they have conducted the war in rhetoric. He's been very reluctant to impose any real consequences. There's a lot of unease in the Democratic coalition under the hood about that. He is trying to walk a tight rope between his own instincts, which were formed really 50 years ago, to kind of reflexively support Israel, and the growing criticism within his coalition. And I think this is just another critical moment toward that longer-range issue, which, as I said, I think is a bigger question than how he orients vis-à-vis the protests, is what he does on the policy itself, how he handles the war itself, and whether he can heal any of the breaches in the party, which I think are only going to increase the longer this goes on."
