Suffolk County Executive: ‘We’ve Become the Epicenter in the Country,’ ‘Death Toll Continues to Go Up’

‘We always had the sense we were seven to 14 days behind what was happening in New York City, but I can really see it in the numbers now’

EXCERPT:

BELLONE: "Thank you very much, good morning. Yes, we’ve become the epicenter really in the country, in Suffolk County and on Long Island. We always had the sense we were about 7 to 14 days behind what was happening in New York City, but we can really see it in the numbers now. Every day, the numbers of positive patients rises by more than a thousand. We're seeing hospitalizations continue to rise every day and, of course, the death toll continues to go up. We yesterday passed 200 and the numbers continue to rise."
