Mike Lee: Either These Agents Are Incompetent or They Waged a Political War Against Trump

LEE: "So we're faced with two possibilities. Either, one, these FBI agencies purposely used the power of the federal government to wage a political war against a presidential candidate they despised, or two, these agents were so incompetent that they allowed a paid foreign political operative to weaponize the FISA program into a spying operation on the rival presidential political campaign. I am not sure about you, but I'm not sure which is worse. I am sure that neither conclusion is acceptable. They are both horrifying for slightly different reasons. I am not sure there is a substantive distinction between the two of them. And I am not sure that one of them can conclude , I'm not sure it is possible to conclude that the bias evident in communications between some of these investigators was not at least a part of it. The fact you say there was a not a causal connection between them, that there wasn't a but-for causal change between those communications and the opening of the investigation itself is beside the point. The fact is that these were agents who made their bias clear, and they went after someone in part because they did not like his candidacy, and that is inexcusable."
