Trump Goes After Senators McCain and Flake: ‘I Will Not Mention Any Names…Very Presidential’

‘And nobody wants me to talk about your other senator, who’s weak on borders, weak on crime’

Trump Goes After Senators McCain and Flake: ‘I Will Not Mention Any Names…Very Presidential’ (Mediaite)

President Trump went after Arizona’s two senators at his rally in Phoenix without referring to them by name.

“Obamacare is a disaster,” he began, “and think- we were just ONE VOTE AWAY from victory after seven years of everybody proclaiming ‘Repeal and Replace!’ One vote away!”

He acknowledged that there were some “great” Republican senators, but “we were ONE VOTE AWAY from repeal and replace,” which caused the crowd to chant “Drain the Swamp!”

“They all said, ‘Mr. President, your speech was so good last night. Please, please Mr. President, don’t mention any names.’ So I won’t. I won’t,” he continued. “ONE VOTE AWAY! I will not mention any names! Very presidential, isn’t it? Very presidential.”

Trump was clearly referencing Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who killed the “skinny repeal” bill last month.

“And nobody wants me to talk about your other senator, who’s weak on borders, weak on crime!” he exclaimed.  “So I won’t talk about him.”

That was another clear reference, this time to Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), who has been recently very critical of Trump while promoting his new book.

“Nobody wants me to talk about him,” he added. “Nobody knows who the hell he is!”
